Psychosomatic medicine

»The body always speaks.« (Lemma)

Psychosomatic medicine takes a holistic view on how bodily symptoms are connected to emotional states. Your bodily symptoms are treated in the context of your personal circumstances and life history.

Because bodily symptoms rarely have only a physical cause, and are often influenced by mental stress or emotional conflict, the aim of a psychosomatic approach is to understand the interactions between body and mind, and to find holistic solutions together.

Examples of psychosomatic complaints

can be persistent stomach pain without an organic cause, chronic headaches or skin conditions such as neurodermatitis or back pain. Chronic illnesses (e.g. auto-immune diseases) can also be exacerbated by emotional stress, meaning that a psychosomatic approach to coping with illness can also be helpful here.
