Neurodivergence

(ADHD and autism spectrum disorders)

My practice specializes in the diagnosis and psychotherapeutic treatment of ADHD and autism spectrum disorders. Over many years, I have conducted scientific and clinical research and studies on ADHD in adults. Through my extensive work, I have developed and researched the effectiveness of a new therapeutic approach, Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT) for ADHD.

MBT-ADHD is a group therapy that focuses, in particular, on emotion regulation and the ability to mentalize, i.e. the ability to read one’s own feelings, ideas and needs, as well as those of others.

Diagnosis of ADHD and autism spectrum disorders

If you suspect that you have ADHD, in an initial clinical consultation, we will first evaluate whether there is a need for a more in-depth diagnostic process. Then, in several diagnostic sessions (3–4 appointments), we conduct a comprehensive assessment for neurodivergence (ADHS and/or autism spectrum disorder) and provide you with a detailed doctor’s report along with further treatment recommendations.

ADHD psychoeducation groups

Patients with an ADHD diagnosis can take part in our weekly ADHD psychoeducation group, running for 6-7 sessions (of 100 minutes). In these sessions, we provide you with a holistic, up to date understanding of ADHD. You will also learn new strategies how to better manage your ADHD and will be able to exchange experience with others who have ADHD.

Psychotherapeutic services for ADHD: Mentalization-based group therapy (MBT) for ADHD

After having completed an ADHD psychoeducation group, it is possible to start ADHD-specific group therapy that focuses on emotion regulation and the ability to mentalize. The therapy lasts for 1-year and has proven to be effective in improving ADHD symptoms, emotion regulation and quality of life in our pilot study at the University of Geneva and the IPU in Berlin.
